One of the most common questions engaged couples ask me while we are doing the work of ceremony planning is, “Can you send us sample wedding vows?” Across the internet there is no shortage of sample wedding vows ranging from haiku to long, full-bodied wedding vows.
The exchange of wedding vows is often the most intimate and special moment of the wedding ceremony, a great reason to spend some time thoughtfully considering your vows.
In the meantime, here is a small selection of sample wedding vows to get you started down the road of finding the perfect vows for your wedding day.
Sample Wedding Vows #1: Your Accomplice in Mischief
With this ring, I give you my promise that from this day forward I will give you all of my love, And you shall not walk alone. I have no greater gift to give. As your love is my anchor, and your trust is my strength, may my heart be your shelter and my arms be your home.
As this ring has no end or beginning, so shall my love for you be. As I place it on your finger, I give you all that I am, and all that I shall become.
I will be your comrade in adventure, your comfort in disappointment, your accomplice in mischief, and your strength in times of need. I will listen with understanding, and trust you completely all the days of my life. This ring is a symbol of my vow.
Sample Wedding Vows #2: My Partner in Life, My One True Love.
I Groom/Bride, take you Bride/Groom to be my wife/husband, my partner in life, and my one true love. I will cherish our union and love you more each day than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you faithfully through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my hand, my heart, and my love, from this day forward for as long as we both shall live. This ring is a symbol of my vow.
Sample Wedding Vows #3: You Are My Best Friend, I Will Love You Always
I, Groom/Bride, choose you Bride/Groom, To be no other than yourself, Loving what I know of you, trusting what I do not yet know. I will respect you as an individual, a partner, and an equal. I promise to laugh with you when times are good, and endure with you when they are bad. I will always adore, honor and encourage you. You are my best friend, and I will love you always.
Sample Wedding Vows #4: In The Presence of God
On this day, I give to you, in the presence of God, my vow to stay by your side, in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, as well as through the good times and the bad times. I promise to love you without restraint, comfort you in times of adversity, dream with you and encourage you to achieve all of your goals, laugh with you and cry with you, grow with you in mind and spirit, always be open and honest with you, and honor you for as long as we both shall live. This ring is a symbol of my vow.
Sample Wedding Vows #5: The Classic
I Groom/Bride, take you Bride/Groom to be husband/wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, for the rest of our lives.
Regardless of whatever sample wedding vows you eventually choose I would highly recommend you tweak, edit, and shape the vows to better fit your life and love story. If you need any help or coaching in writing your wedding vows, please do not hesitate to contact me.
