For couples seeking an adventurous and truly unforgettable wedding experience, the mountains and lakes surrounding Whistler, Pemberton, and Squamish are the perfect setting for an intimate, outdoor ceremony. If you're the type of couple who’d rather swap a traditional church aisle for a scenic trail, these breathtaking hiking destinations offer an epic backdrop for your elopement. Here are some of the best adventure hiking wedding locations that promise to make your wedding day unforgettable.
1. Mount Rohr
Difficulty: Moderate | Distance: 10 km (Round Trip)
Mount Rohr offers an incredible alpine environment with views of the surrounding Coast Mountains. This relatively moderate hike takes you to a ridge where the views stretch for miles. With stunning vistas and a secluded location, Mount Rohr provides a perfect backdrop for couples looking for tranquility and raw natural beauty.
This is a good day-hike but for a hiking elopement we’d like to hike in early, set up camp at the lake, and then gain some more elevation to do the ceremony. Once the ceremony and photos are done, we can head back to camp before walking out the next morning. 10 out of 10 swimming here as well!
2. Decker Lake
Difficulty: Simple-Moderate | Distance: 8 km (Round Trip)
Tucked in the Garibaldi Provincial Park, Decker Lake is a hidden gem. The hike to this beautiful, serene lake starts with a gondola ride up Blackcomb and then takes you through alpine meadows and offers a variety of scenic spots for a wedding ceremony. The blue-green waters of Decker Lake are the perfect canvas for an unforgettable wedding photo. Epic sunsets here.
3. Kees and Claire Hut
Difficulty: Moderate/Hard | Distance: 12 km (Round Trip)
For couples looking for a high-alpine adventure, the Kees and Claire Hut offers a spectacular location at Russet Lake near the base of Fissile Mountain with sweeping views of glaciers, rugged peaks, and alpine meadows. The best way to get here starts with a gondola ride up Whistler and then connects to a beautiful alpine trail network leading you to the cozy mountain hut. The great thing with this option is you don’t have to carry a tonne of camping gear (leaving more room for your wedding dress) and we can rent sleeping space in the hut!
An evening ceremony in the mountains near the K&C hut would be legendary.
4. Elfin Lakes
Difficulty: Moderate | Distance: 22 km (Round Trip)
Elfin Lakes is one of the most popular and breathtaking alpine hikes near Squamish. A picturesque lake surrounded by towering peaks and meadows makes this an ideal spot for a romantic and adventurous wedding. With several perfect spots along the trail and the opportunity to camp nearby, it’s a great choice for couples looking for a multi-day adventure.
5. Panorama Ridge at Sunrise or Sunset
Difficulty: Hard | Distance: 18 km (Round Trip)
For those who are truly ready to take their wedding to new heights, Panorama Ridge offers one of the most spectacular views in Garibaldi Provincial Park. The hike is very challenging but rewards you with panoramic views of glaciers, alpine lakes, and the surrounding peaks—perfect for a sunrise or sunset ceremony that will leave you and your guests speechless.
This would be a two-day trip and all participant should be fit and prepared for a bit of suffering. It’s a long hike!

Speaking of hard hikes, Wedgemount Lake is one of them but is undeniably worth the effort. The steep climb brings you to an incredible turquoise lake surrounded by glaciers and towering peaks. The solitude and rugged beauty of the area make it a perfect spot for an intimate wedding and your photographer will be stoked on the endless options!
7. Sproatt Mountain
Difficulty: Moderate | Distance: Varies
Mount Sproatt offers quieter, more secluded trails with amazing views of Whistler, Blackcomb, and the surrounding valleys. Accessed with a high clearance 4x4 vehicle and then a short 45-60minute hike, the trail has varying terrain that includes alpine meadows, streams, and scenic ridges—perfect for couples who want a less crowded yet equally stunning location to exchange their vows.
